HISTORIC PASTURES
The Historic Pastures neighborhood is a 13-block residential district located just south of downtown Albany, New York. Its roots date back to the late 17th century, when the land was set aside as communal pasture by Albany’s colonial city council and later deeded to the Dutch Reformed Church.
As Albany grew into New York’s state capital, the area was subdivided and developed, and today it stands as one of the city’s most architecturally rich neighborhoods, with well-preserved examples of Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, and Gothic Revival styles spanning the early 1800s through the turn of the 20th century.
